How does Haihaisoft Media-DRM work?
Content owners can securely package their digital files for distribution by
using Media-DRM packager encrypting the content with a key. The key is a piece
of encrypted data that is used to unlock a file. To play a packaged file, the
consumer must obtain a license that contains this key. The license, which is
distributed separately from the content, enables the content owner to set rules
that determine how the packaged file can be played. Once a license has been
received, a consumer can watch or listen to the file based on the rules
arranged by the content owner.
Licenses can have different rights, such as start times and dates, duration, and
counted operations. For instance, default rights may allow the consumer to play
the digital media file on a specific computer and copy the file to a portable
device. Licenses, however, are not transferable. If a consumer sends a packaged
digital media file to a friend, this friend must acquire her own license to
play the digital media file. This PC-by-PC licensing scheme ensures that the
packaged digital media file can only be played by the computer that has been
granted the license key for that file.
When end users play the protected content, Media Player will pop up a license
acquisition window. End users have to enter correct username and password to
acquire licenses. Content owners can manage end users account, and set rules
for end users in Media-DRM Account C Users. Content owners can view the
reports in Media-DRM Reports, license delivered history and financial reports
in details.
